I’m always scouring the internet for easy dinners to make that are also fast and cheap… and bonus, these are homemade! Pinterest has several posts on how to make your own pizza rolls. I decided to give it a try and see how it turns out.
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
Being in Japan, most of the cho houses do not have ovens. Most of us that cook at home have purchased a toaster oven to satisfy our baking needs. I, after seeing several QVC infomercials at 3 in the morning breastfeeding LO, gave in and purchased a NuWave Oven. I LOVE my nuwave oven... that will be another post on its own. So step one, foil your NuWave oven pan or use a cookie sheet.
Open your crescent rolls and lay out your layers on a cutting board. I always open these like I’m opening champagne bottles or firing a gun. The pop still to this day scares the bejeezus out of me!
Lay out the pepperoni. I lay around 3-5, it’s all about preference.
Lay out your cheese. I used shredded cheese because that I what already had, but you can also use the string cheese version. Just cut them in half and place them in. String cheese I imagine would be easier to roll with.
Place them double stacked in your NuWave oven. If you are using a cookie sheet make sure you preheat your oven to 350 degrees beforehand.
In my NuWave oven, I had put my rolls in for 10 minutes with a pause at 5 minutes to switch the rolls on top to the bottom. You could probably get creative with placement and get them all on one tray and bake them for the full 10 minutes without a pause. In a regular oven, bake them for 22 minutes at 350 degrees.
While those puppies are baking, I started getting my sauce ready. I had a jar of Prego in my cupboard so I used that. You can also use pizza sauce like other recipes call for. Heat over your stove or microwave to warm up the sauce.
And Voila! You have yourself pizza rolls!
