It’s always a good motto to never cheat in life. However, I make it an exception for this DIY recipe. Today I’m going to show you how to make the greatest all-in-one sunscreen and insect repellent. I know that summer is coming to an end and fall is revving her engines, but I think you would agree with me that it never hurts to protect yourself from the sun year around and keep yourself safe from insects. Especially where I live where the mosquitos roam around 24/7, 365 days a year.
What you will need:
Johnson’s Baby creamy oil (no substitutions)
Carrot Essential Oil
Purification Essential Oil
Johnson’s baby creamy oil is a great sun blocker and insect repellent on its own. It contains shea butter which is a sunblocker and baby oil which mosquitos hate. The potency is relatively low, I know the shea butter in it might be SPF10. Carrot essential oil has many benefits also, not only is it good for hair and skin repair, it also has an SPF30 which is great use for a sunscreen. Purification essential oil contains citronella and lemongrass which is an ultimate weapon to ward off pesky insects.
If you have a perfume bottle re-filler like this one, this would make your life easier. If you don’t, that is ok; you can combine your ingredients and store it in a separate bottle. You’re going to add 20-30 drops of each essential oil to your baby creamy oil. Once it is mixed you can store and use. It’s really that simple. You can add more or less depending on how strong you want your mixture to be. For an extra insect repellent boost, you can add peppermint essential oil or lavender essential oil.
