Go ahead... pat yourself on the back... you've been training hard to lose all that baby weight you gained from carrying your little one. Kudos to you for losing all that weight so far! You can now see the finish line and it's definitely that 11th hour of exhaustion and you still have 5-10 pounds left to go to meet your ultimate goal. And of course, those last 5-10 pounds are always the hardest to go.
I have been mega lazy these last few months and I haven't been exercising at all... but it's totally on my to-do list I swear. Even if you haven't been running marathons or been a P90X diva, here are some lifestyle tips you can follow that will help you shed those last pesky pounds. So far, I have lost 14 pounds myself.
Green Tea Magic
I have said it once and I will say it again...Green tea will do wonders on your body and I cannot cannot CANNOT rave enough on the benefits. Green tea is the healthiest beverage on the planet. It is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that have powerful effects on the body. This includes improved brain function, fat loss, a lower risk of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and many other incredible benefits. It is also caffeinated, so it's a great healthy alternative to coffee. I attempt to drink at least 10-15 cups of green tea a day. Green tea not only speeds up your metabolism, but will burn fat. Do not think this is an overnight diet miracle. I have been drinking green tea for months because I enjoy the taste and healthy benefits I get from it. The weight loss obtained from it was an added benefit for me.
Note: Try not to drink green tea after five. I am hard evidence that green tea after 5pm keeps you up all night and makes one cranky momma in the morning.
Good versus Bad Carbs
I bet you didn't know that not all carbs are created equal, huh? Having the knowledge of what type of carbs your body needs is good for your body. This article has the basic knowledge of what types of carbs are good and the ones that are bad. Most of it is common knowledge, but if you don't know then eliminating the bad carbs will do tremendous leaps for you and your body.
Another tip that I follow is to eliminate three of your favorite junk foods. So with me, my top favorite junk foods are soda, bubble gum, and potato chips. I chose these three because of my addiction with them. Chips are the worse because sometimes when you are sitting in front of the TV and you are brainlessly stuffing chips into your mouth, you don't even know the bag is empty until there is nothing left to grab, by then you are still watching the rest of "The Walking Dead" season finale when you wished you had paid more attention. Did you know that junk food snack companies flavor their food so that you eat more and more of it confusing your taste buds that you are still hungry? Sick isn't it? So right now, pick your three things and get rid of it and don't think twice on buying any more. Bought an unopen bag of chips? Donate it to the food bank. Don’t tempt yourself by leaving these types of foods around.
it's ok to take a break
And remember... its ok to take a break. Completely going on diet mode 24/7 will make your brain and body go on coocoo withdraws. It’s ok if you want a morning muffin every once in a while. My trick? I'll cut that item in quarter pieces. I'll eat one piece, eat something healthy afterwards, and then wait ten minutes. After ten minutes your stomach is able to feel full a little so that your brain has a better grasp on your willpower. This trick works 90% of the time for me.
30 minute lazy exercise
I haven't exercised... at all... But I try to at the minimum fit in a 30 minute walk after lunch. How does that saying go? You may be going slow, but you are still lapping everyone on the couch. Even if you can't fit thirty minutes into your schedule do little things that you can incorporate in your life like parking in the farthest spot when you go grocery shopping, or investing in wrist and ankle weights for when you do your daily activities.
